La Barceloneta (beaches) - Barcelona
The city of Barcelona Granollers

From our Sidorme hotel you can reach Barceloneta, one of the most important fishing villages of Barcelona, in just 20 minutes.

Barceloneta is a cosmopolitan place that reaches its peak during the summer months. Its beach is the liveliest of the city, and is usually crowded but there will always be room for you. Experience the atmosphere of Barceloneta; there are the best restaurants in town and some excellent beach bars for you to enjoy a drink til the early morning.

You will love the Barceloneta with its more traditional look. While walking through its streets you will encounter yourself in a village without leaving the city, with its facades covered with clothes hanging from the balconies. You can also enjoy the seafront by undertaking an excursion on a small cruise ship called las Golondrinas; you can also embark it from the port at the Columbus monument.

Discover the most iconic places and important buildings of Barceloneta; visit the building of Palau de Mar where the History Museum of Catalonia (Museu d'Historia de Catalunya) is situated. There you can find a permanent exhibition on the history of Catalonia, from its prehistory to the present. Behind the museum you will find the Clock Tower, the oldest building in the area. You can also initiate some cultural tourism by visiting the baroque church of Sant Miquel del Port in the Plaza de la Barceloneta. And if you love flamenco, you will need to stop by the fountain built in honor of the dancer Carmen Amaya.

But what one thing that you cannot miss is the Llotja. There you will see the famous fish auction. La Barceloneta is one of the best places in town to get fresh fish, but if you prefer tapas, there are also plenty to choose from. The most typical one is called “la bomba”, a potato dumpling stuffed with meat served with salsa or garlic mayonnaise, not suitable for the pickiest eater.
