First of all, there was the International Exhibition held in Barcelona in 1929, and more recently, in 1992 the Olympic Games were hosted there.

The Mountain of Montjuic is an excellent vantage point for getting a good overview of the city, and it is full with touristic sights that you should visit.

At the top of the mountain you will find the beautiful Montjuïc Castle, an old military fortress used as a surveillance point in antiquity. It currently serves as a viewpoint from which you can enjoy great views of the city. It occupies much of the territory of the terrific hill over the harbor.

Walk through the Olympic Ring area, central stage of the Olympic Games in 1992 and discover the Estadi Lluís Companys, the Palau Sant Jordi designed by Arata Izosaki, and the telecommunications tower designed by Santiago Calatrava. Nearby you will find the Museu Olimpic i de l' Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch or the Botanic Garden with more than 2,000 varieties of plants.
